Crosshatched Collage

This impeccable study has the fine black-and-white linework of a drawing or etching, thanks to a patois of patterned linen scraps. Blended with wool remnants from reclaimed sweaters, the mosaic is felted into place and framed, as befitting its illustrative aesthetic. From mere inches away, the varying weaves of linen can be admired as a structural echo of the fabric’s graphic patterning.

  • Studies are fiber-art compositions that serve as material exploration for Waste No More’s array of techniques and surprising visual effects. Often, they are the prototype for larger Wallworks. They are arranged by hand and industrially felted to produce one-of-kind artworks that can be framed, mounted, or hung as is. Made from remnants of reclaimed EILEEN FISHER clothing, they play with texture, color, and shape with a spirit of lively experimentation that far outsizes their intimate scale.
