Denim Seams

A lush garden of seams reclaimed from denim apparel comprise this one-of-a-kind study. Each piece is arranged and layered by the artist and then felted using an industrial machine. Interlocked in place, the seams appear plant-like, all leaf and midrib, reaching upward in inky determination.

  • Studies are fiber-art compositions that serve as material exploration for Waste No More’s array of techniques and surprising visual effects. Often, they are the prototype for larger Wallworks. They are arranged by hand and industrially felted to produce one-of-kind artworks that can be framed, mounted, or hung as is. Made from remnants of reclaimed EILEEN FISHER clothing, they play with texture, color, and shape with a spirit of lively experimentation that far outsizes their intimate scale.
