Little Snowman

A study in materials and process, Little Snowman exhibits the most intriguing qualities of its provenance. Reclaimed wool and linen are arranged in a jaunty totem and felted using an industrial felting machine. The final composition is warm with texture, color, and form. Up close, the fibers reveal varying degrees of fretting from being adhered together by hundreds of needles, which creates a captivating play of transparency and opacity.

  • Studies are fiber-art compositions that serve as material exploration for Waste No More’s array of techniques and surprising visual effects. Often, they are the prototype for larger Wallworks. They are arranged by hand and industrially felted to produce one-of-kind artworks that can be framed, mounted, or hung as is. Made from remnants of reclaimed EILEEN FISHER clothing, they play with texture, color, and shape with a spirit of lively experimentation that far outsizes their intimate scale.
