Red Mosaic

This study explores modular construction using felted squares of wool, linen, and cotton textiles. As in a quilt, each square has its own realm of intrigue, which becomes exponentially more impressive once all of the pieces are assembled together. Here, they are felted again (not stitched) to create the finished composition, rich with color and depth.

  • Studies are fiber-art compositions that serve as material exploration for Waste No More’s array of techniques and surprising visual effects. Often, they are the prototype for larger Wallworks. They are arranged by hand and industrially felted to produce one-of-kind artworks that can be framed, mounted, or hung as is. Made from remnants of reclaimed EILEEN FISHER clothing, they play with texture, color, and shape with a spirit of lively experimentation that far outsizes their intimate scale.
